Indian skipper Virat Kohli has undoubtedly become the King of Australia in the longest format of the game. While batting against the hosts on the third day of the Adelaide test, he surpassed the 87-year-old record of former legend, Sir Donald Bradman to become the fastest batsmen to get 1000 Test runs on the Australian soil.

Ahead of the first test, the Indian skipper needed eight runs to reach this magnificent feat. Since he failed to score in the first innings, he got there in the second.

Leaving behind the Australian greats

Kohli got 1000 Test runs in Australia during his 9^th match here. On the other hand, Sir Bradman took 10 matches to score as many runs. Besides Bradman, other Australian greats including Steve Waugh, Steve Smith, Mathew Hayden, Allen Border and Michael Clark took more than 10 matches to get those four digits against their names.

Best average on the Australian Soil

Fourth Indian to score 1000 Test runs in Australia

Kohli also became the fourth batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid to score 1000 Test runs in Australia.

Surpassed Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly

Kohli had already surpassed Sunil Gavaskar along with Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly to become the 4^th-highest run-scorer in Australia. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 1809 runs, followed by Laxman (1236) and Dravid (1143).
