India's neighbouring nation all set to make debut in ODIs

Ahead of the ODIs, the teams will fly down to London for a T20I tripple-header at Lord’s

The national cricket team of Nepal is all set to make debut in One Day Internationals (ODIs). They will play the Netherlands in ODIs on August 1 and August 3.

Both the matches will be played at Voorburg CC and the VRA Ground in the Amsterdam suburb of Amstelveen, announced the Netherlands Cricket Board (KNCB).

The match on August 1 will mark Nepal’s 1st ODi in history after the country bagged the ODI status recently. The nation reached the feat after finishing at eighth position surpassing Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea, at the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe in March.

On the other hand, the Netherlands ill pay an ODI after 4 long years. Earlier this year, they lost their ODI status at the World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand. However, they were fortunate enough to regain the status as they finished first in the 2015-17 WCL Championship.

Meanwhile, Netherlands coach Ryan Campbell spoke about the forthcoming face-off. He said, “It's going to be a fantastic series for both countries as it will be our first ODI since regaining our status lost in 2014, it will also be Nepal's first ODI ever. These games also present us with another opportunity to expose our youngsters to top quality cricket and I'm excited to keep watching their development."

Ahead of the ODIs, both the teams will fly down to London for a T20I tripple-header at Lord’s. The third team will be an MCC squad led by former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene.
