Pacer Umesh Yadav has done marvels with the ball on many occasions but what he did with the bat against South Africa on Sunday, will surely stand out special. After some classic performances by Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja on the second day of the ongoing Ranchi Test, Umesh turned the heat on at the JSCA cricket stadium with his fiery 10-ball 31.
Umesh came to bat when India were reduced to 450/7. Once he began the hammering, not only the Ranchi crowd but also skipper Virat Kohli in the dressing was enthralled by those hard-hitting.
Umesh targeted debutant George Linde as he smashed two sixes in his first two balls. In the next over from the debutant, the batsman hit him for three more maximums, before his slog finally landed in the hands of wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen.
The Indian speedster returned to the pavilion after registering his highest score in the longest format of the game.

With this whirlwind knock, Umesh became the fastest to score 30+ runs in Test history. He went past former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming (11-ball 31 in 2004, vs SA). Umesh also recorded a strike rate of 310 with the bat which is now the in a 10+ ball innings in Test history.
Umesh helped India reach closer to the 500-run mark as captain Kohli declared the innings for 497/9. Earlier, Rohit Sharma slammed a double hundred after vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane hammered 115 runs, bringing up the 11th ton of his Test career.
