WATCH | Kohli Fumes Over Crowd Chanting 'Dhoni Dhoni' After Pant Drops Catch

The 'Dhoni Dhoni chants' by the crowd after Pant's dropped catch in the 2nd T20I against Windies did not impress Virat Kohli one bit and left him fuming.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli singled out the home team's dismal fielding performance as the major reason behind their massive loss to the Windies in the 2nd T20I at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. However, the Indian skipper was livid when the crowd reacted to a dropped catch by wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant by chanting MS Dhoni’s name. The Kerala crowd at the Greenfield Stadium, who had earlier cheered out their lungs to support their local boy Sanju Samson, when the 'Men In Blue' stepped out before the match, were a touch disappointed when Samson was not named in the Playing XI. When glovesman Pant dropped Windies opener Evin Lewis in the 5th over, the crowd did not hide their feelings and vented out their emotions by chanting names of the more MS Dhoni, indicating that the more seasoned campaigners should keep wickets for India in place of Pant. The 'Dhoni Dhoni chants' by the crowd did not impress Virat Kohli one bit and left him fuming. He turned to the crowd and seemed to gesture that they should chant Pant’s name as he was the wicketkeeper on the field for India. Virat Kohli had said earlier that he thinks it is disrespectful to invoke Dhoni, the former India captain, when Pant is on the field. Pant made up for the missed opportunity by pulling off a stumping later in the innings. In the India innings too, Pant played a quick-fire 33-run knock  as India rode a blistering cameo by Shivam Dube to post 170 in their 20 overs.
