Watch: Marcus Stoinis Notches Highest-ever BBL Score With 79-ball 147 For Melbourne Stars

Marcus Stoinis smashed a whirwind 147 off just 79 balls to break D’Arcy Short’s record for the highest individual score in BBL tournament’s history.

Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis continued his golden run of form with the bat in the ninth edition of the Big Bash League, smashing an unbeaten 79-ball 147 on Sunday for Melbourne Stars against Sydney Sixers. Batting first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Stars posted a mammoth 219/1 in their 20 overs on the back of Stonis'' whirlwind ton which came up in just 60 balls. Stoinis was in belligerent touch, smashing the Sydney bowlers to all corners of the park, hitting 13 fours and eight sixes as he went past D’Arcy Short’s record for the highest individual score in the T20 tournament’s history. The 30-year-old Stoinis thrashed another record with the help of Hilton Cartwright as they both formed a 207-run partnership, highest-ever in the tournament. Stoinis has been in scintillating form for the Melbourne Stars, leading the run scoring charts in this edition so far with 331 runs with a healthy average of 55.1 Stoinis was released by Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the auction for the 2020 season and was picked up by Delhi Capitals. He is not part of the Australia squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series in India.
