WATCH: Rohit Slams Hat-Trick Of Sixes To Break MS Dhoni's Record

Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma failed to talk enough with the bat in the Delhi T20I on Sunday. He lost his wicket pretty early, scoring just 9 runs off 5 deliveries. However, the HITMAN returned with a bang in Rajkot and made his 100^th T20I outing memorable. Rohit went with all guns blazing against the Bangladesh attack on Thursday. Slaying the opponents mercilessly, the dynamic opener brought up his 18^th T20I fifty off just 23 balls. In the next 20 balls, Rohit added 32 more to his account before getting caught by Mithun at deep mid-wicket region. During his innings, Rohit never shied away from clearing the fence. His 80-run stint was laced with 6 fours and as many maximums, including the 3 consecutive sixes to Mossadek Hossain. It was the 10^th over when the Indian captain welcomed the off-spinner with three biggies in a row. Later in a conversation with Yuzvendra Chahal, Rohit revealed that he tried to make it 6 out of 6 but since he couldn’t connect the fourth delivery pretty well, he carried on with grounded shots in the rest of the over. “When I hit three consecutive sixes, I tried to go for six maximums. But when I missed the fourth one, I decided I will take singles,” said the stand-in captain. In due course, Rohit went on to break and set a few records. He now holds the record for most sixes by an India captain in T20I cricket. With 37 sixes in just 17 innings, the Mumbai batsman went past M.S. Dhoni's tally of 34 (62 innings). Virat Kohli is third on the list with 26 sixes (26 innings). Rohit also now holds the record for the most number of sixes in international cricket in 2019 across formats. He tops the charts with 66 and counting. He had held the record in 2017 and 2018 as well wherein he had hit 65 and 74, respectively. The two teams will now face each other in the series finale in Nagpur on Sunday.
